Heritage Muscle Treatment contains some of the following ingredients: Coal Oil, Mineral Oil, Olive Oil, Witch Hazel, Tincture Benzoin and Sassafras Oil. According to the retailer’s website, this product is a pesticide-free “Certified massage Liniment”, which may be used twice a day to address muscle aches, soreness and sprains, as well as varicose veins.

Of all the elements used in this formula, Witch Hazel is perhaps the only one that has any known or purported ability to ease varicose veins. It has traditionally been used in herbal medicine to address damaged facial veins, varicose veins and hemorrhoids, as well as ease bruises. It has astringent properties, which may make Witch Hazel valuable in this arena. It is used to tighten distended veins, similar to those found in individuals with varicose veins. Some suggest it may restore their normal structure, but we could find no research to support this. While it has a history of being used for this function, it is usually applied on a lint bandage, which is left on the skin, being kept moist. Clearly, this is not how it is used in this formula.

The other oils used in this formula are commonly found in many massage liniments, and may soothe sore, tired and bruised muscles. However, at this time, they have not been found to play a role in addressing varicose veins. For instance, Tincture Benzoin is a styptic and antiseptic, which has been used as an oral mucosal protectant to address canker sores, as well as to ease asthma, bronchitis and colds when inhaled in steam. It has also been used to ease dry and chapped skin. Mineral Oil and Olive Oil have long histories of being used to ease skin issues and soothe muscles.

Sassafras Oil is rather fragrant, and has been traditionally used to alleviate skin wounds, sores and rashes. However, it has shown to be potentially carcinogenic when taken internally.

While we are glad to see that this website fully discloses the formulary used for Heritage Muscle Treatment, we are rather disappointed to see that they do not post any testimonials as of this writing. We feel this would have been particularly valuable for this product, because we find it is clearly not focused on easing varicose veins. We think it would have been useful to see if anyone has achieved any kind of results with this product.

However, those who are looking for a serious product to ease varicose veins may prefer to look elsewhere, because we find this formula is clearly not equipped to deal with this issue in the way it needs to be to produce results. However, there are some really good products available on the market that offer formulas that use very effective elements, such as Diosmin 95®.

Diosmin 95® is an element that is very new to the U.S. market, but it has been available in Europe for quite some time. It has been used there to effectively ease varicose veins, spider veins and hemorrhoids, because they all result from a weakness in the vein walls and valves. Diosmin 95® is effective because it has been shown to strengthen the veins and valves, which prevent, ease and perhaps reverse vein related issues.
