HMR-X contains some of the following: Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, Butcher Broom Extract, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Horse Chestnut Extract, Curcumin Extract, Witch Hazel and Grape Seed Extract.

This formula contains both Butcher’s Broom and Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, which are two elements often found in products geared toward addressing varicose veins. Butcher's Broom is a diaphoretic, diuretic, deobstruent and aperient, which has a history of being used in Europe and the southern U.S. to naturally support the circulatory system. Hesperidin is derived from citrus fruits such as oranges, and it is found in many supplements that are geared toward improving blood flow in the body and easing hemorrhoids. It has also been used to address fibroid tumors, endometriosis and premenstrual syndrome.

Horse Chestnut Extract has a long history of being used to address varicose and spider veins. Aescin is the active ingredient in Horse Chestnut, and it appears to block the release of enzymes that damage capillary walls. In some studies, it showed some positive results when it came to reducing in leg pain and swelling compared with a placebo. Unfortunately, this extract also contains a toxin which must be removed before it is used in holistic preparations, but there have been some scattered reports of side effects.

Grape Seed Extract is used in this formula to strengthen blood vessel walls and reduce inflammation. However, its abilities may be no where as effective as Diosmin 95®, a new element on the market which has been shown in clinical studies to strengthen not only the vein walls, but also the valves. It is often the failure of these valves that lead to varicose veins in the first place.

Some individuals may not realize at first that there is a correlation between the formation of hemorrhoids and varicose veins. However, when we look deeper at these conditions, the connection is clear, because each one is a result of a weakness in the vein walls. But, when it comes to varicose veins, it is also the weakness in the vein valves that causes this condition to develop and worsen.

This weakness allows blood to pool in the vein, causing the rope-like appearance. While this formula seems well-equipped to address vein weakness, it does not have a mechanism in place to ease valve weakness. We find this is a big flaw when it comes to addressing varicose veins, but it is not an issue when addressing hemorrhoids. We would have preferred if the manufacturer used an element such as Diosmin 95®, which has proven to do both – strengthen vein walls and the vein valves.

HMR-X may be a really good way to strengthen vein walls in order to slow down the progression of hemorrhoids and varicose veins. However, when it comes to varicose veins, we find it fails to address one very important aspect – strengthening vein valves, which plays a significant role in the development of varicose veins.

As noted above, we would have liked it if an element were included to address this issue, such as Diosmin 95®. This element has been shown in clinical studies to strengthen both vein walls and valves, in order to use a multi-level approach to effectively address this very complicated issue.
